The thermometer hit 92 degrees in Atlanta on Sunday and it won't be the last time this week we break the 90-degree mark.

As steamy as it was, we still missed the previous record high by two degrees, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said. Atlanta's normal high for this time of year is 81 degrees and just days ago, high temperatures didn't climb out of the 60s.

Not this week.

The sunny skies that made for a summer-like weekend should stick around through Monday and Tuesday before clouds increase midweek, Nitz said. Expect 90-degree weather both days. Low temperatures will drop to the upper 60s for most of the week. By 12:30 p.m. Monday, the temperature had already climbed into the mid-80s.

But the biggest difference between now and the dog days of summer? The humidity right now is low, Nitz said.

Temperatures are expected to drop slightly by the end of week, when showers are possible, Nitz said. There is a 20 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, is it is 40 percent likely to rain Thursday and Friday.
