Sugar Hill has named the 2017-2018 Youth Council members. Five of the Youth Council of Sugar Hill (YCSH) members, Spencer-Grace Williams (Youth Mayor), Kaan Cubukcu (Youth Mayor Pro Tem), Ethan Shaw (Secretary), Nida Merchant, (Youth Ambassadors Chair) and Maya Chanda are returning candidates from the previous school year. The three remaining positions were awarded to Laura Ann Acker, Camryn Flores and Camden Doker. These high school students will represent the city for the duration of the school year.

The purpose of the YCSH is to provide an opportunity for the youth of Sugar Hill to acquire a greater knowledge of, and appreciation for, the American political system through active participation in local government. The YCSH assists the mayor and city council in solving problems and accomplishing goals by facilitating open dialogue and discussion with representatives of the youth.

Sugar Hills’ Youth Council program is responsible for the creation of a middle school education event during Georgia Cities Week and creating of a group of teen Youth Ambassadors who focus on volunteer work in and around the community.
