Sandy Springs’ month-long December display of lights and decorated miniature houses will enter its second year in a new location, the City Springs downtown redevelopment.

“Sparkle Sandy Springs” opens with a free kick-off event at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, with music by School of Rock Atlanta. Free hot chocolate will be served, and concessions will be available for sale. A visit by the Coca-Cola polar bear and a tree and menorah lighting are planned.

The event offers six-foot-tall wooden houses painted by local businesses, schools and non-profit organizations. This year’s participants include Art Sandy Springs by Glenna Stanhouse, Battle & Brew, Burn Boot Camp, CalyRoad Creamery, Heritage Sandy Springs, High Country Outfitters, and Keep Sandy Spring Beautiful.

Also, Friends of Lost Corner, Mt. Vernon Presbyterian School, North Springs High School, Pontoon Brewing Co., Riverwood High School, Sips n Strokes, The Drake House, Trader Joes Sandy Springs, and La Dee Da Creative & Art Studio.
