The next meeting for the The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative program and the Atlanta Beltline Subarea 1 Master Plan updates will be 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 28 at The MET (The Metropolitan Studio Lofts), 680 Murphy Ave. SW, Suite 4000 in Atlanta (Building 675).

This is an opportunity for the Southwest Study Group to report out on findings from several public meetings throughout the spring and summer and help prioritize the draft final recommendations for land use (e.g. mixed use, housing, commercial services), mobility (e.g. trails, sidewalks, bikes, transit), parks and greenspace in BeltLine Subarea 1, according to a press release.

The objective of the Subarea Master Plan is to guide growth for vibrant, livable mixed-use communities by applying best management practices for transit-oriented development, mobility, green space, and alternative modes of transportation.

In 2007, master planning began by looking at the one-half mile on either side of the Atlanta BeltLine corridor to create a framework to support future growth and transit in the corridor. There are 10 distinct subarea masterplans for the Atlanta BeltLine and they are subject to periodic review and adoption by the Atlanta City Council.
