A federal grant administered by the Atlanta Regional Commission and Georgia DOT will provide 80 percent of funding for Snellville’s Livable Centers Initiative Streetscape Improvement Plan. The $3.9 million project covers all or most of three major streets in the central business district: Oak Road, Clower Street and Wisteria Drive.

Improvements will include over 5,000 feet of new sidewalks, a 5-foot planting strip for new trees and shrubbery, brick paver crosswalks to slow traffic and encourage walking, new lighting fixtures and benches, bike racks and other pedestrian amenities. The improvements are designed to build a walkable and inviting Town Center. City officials believe the project will raise property values of existing businesses and increase their customer base.
