The Snellville City Council voted 5-1, with Mayor Kautz the opposing vote, on June 8 to amend the city code of ordinances related to wrecker services. The changes are intended to clarify conflicting ordinances.

Among the highlights, the ordinance defines qualified wrecker service operators and guidelines for how police dispatch wreckers when needed. The police dispatcher will make calls for wreckers on a rotating basis from two lists based on the size of the vehicle needing towing. Approved wrecker service operators will be required to maintain a permit. The ordinance also defines guidelines for each wrecker service’s compliance to remain on the list of providers.
