The Snellville City Council voted Monday to waive the first reading of the proposed FY 2016 budget. Currently, the budget is set at $10.3 million, a slight decrease from FY 2015.

Despite proposed increases to most city departments, including police and public works, the city plans to save money elsewhere. Assuming the Gwinnett County tax digest remains the same, or increases, the proposed budget should not necessitate an increase in the city’s millage rate.

Snellville officials anticipate a vote to finalize the budget at the city’s second meeting in June.
