Smyrna hosts Bulky Trash Amnesty Day on Aug. 17

A Bulky Trash Amnesty Day will be held by the city of Smyrna and Keep Smyrna Beautiful in mid-August.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17 at the Smyrna Public Works Department, 2190 Atlanta Road, Smyrna.

Only Smyrna residents are invited to bring their unwanted items for free disposal as they clean out their closets, basements, garages and rooms.

Smyrna residents must bring their proof of residency.

A city of Smyrna utility bill is preferred, but a drivers license will be accepted.

Items to be accepted will include furniture, carpet, mattresses, box springs, grills, car parts (such as doors or fenders), lawn furniture and nonFreon-containing appliances such as washers, dryers, etc.

Not accepted will be paint, any household hazardous waste, refrigerators, freezers, tires, construction debris, lawn mowers or propane tanks.

Smyrna neighborhoods are encouraged to work together to bring items such as by rental trucks or pick-up trucks.
