Smyrna Mayor A. Max Bacon and the City Council are considering an increase in property taxes by 7.86 percent.

However, the millage rate will remain at 8.99 mills — as it has since 2011.

Annual proposed tax increases for a house with a fair market value of $225,000 is about $52.40 and, for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $375,000, around $98.25. Three public hearings on this tax increase will be held at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. July 18 in the Smyrna Tax Office, second floor, City Hall, 2800 King St., Smyrna.
