Pouring concrete for the foundations of a new apartment complex and parking deck in the Jonquil development in Smyrna will begin at 3 a.m. and run through 7 p.m. Monday through Friday from mid-August to Nov. 1.

The Smyrna City Council voted Monday to approve the change requested by Wood Partners to complete the Alta Jonquil apartments behind the new Publix on nearly 13 acres at Atlanta Road and Spring Road.

The 3 a.m. start time will allow concrete trucks to enter and exit the site without negatively affecting daily traffic patterns, city officials said.

Council also agreed to allow Wood Partners to extend their work hours from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, with no work on Sundays, to complete the apartment complex on time with the rest of the Jonquil development.

This latter change will allow 2.5 hours more daily on weekdays and 4.5 hours more on Saturdays.

Plateau Excavation also has received approval from the City Council for extended work hours from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, with no Sunday work, to complete the site work at Jonquil.
