The second phase of a three-phase senior adult community was approved by the Smyrna City Council.

This 200-unit will be built on nearly five acres at 4840 and 4788 Hanson Drive by Creekside Village Development Group Inc. off South Cobb Drive near Interstate 285.

The 10-story building will accommodate independent senior living.

The council also approved the annexation of six-tenths of an acre at 4788 Hanson Drive to be a part of this development.

Known as Provident Village at Creekside, Phase 1 consists of an adjacent 80-unit assisted-living facility, with memory care, that is almost ready to open at 4838 South Cobb Drive.

Earlier this month, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved the Development Authority of Cobb County’s request to give $19 million toward the construction of this first phase.

Though absent from Monday’s meeting, Councilman Ron Fennel said during the Committee of the Whole meeting on March 14 the developments would be operated as two separate businesses.

This second phase should be completed by fall 2017, he added.
