There’s a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms across metro Atlanta Tuesday and Tuesday night, particularly over the western suburbs, while in the northwest corner of the state, some of those storms could be strong, packing gusty winds and small hail.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton put the chance of rain at 20 percent Tuesday and 30 percent Wednesday, increasing to 80 percent on Friday.

“We could get a reprieve on Thursday, but Friday’s the day we could have some severe storms,” Minton said.

Afternoon highs will be a degree or two on either side of 80 through Thursday, but cool to around 70 on Friday. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s through Friday, Minton said.

The weekend will begin sunny and cool, with highs Saturday only reaching the mid-60s after dipping into the mid-40s early in the day.

Atlanta’s pollen count fell out of the “extremely high” range Tuesday, to 1,386 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air.
