The McDonough City Council voted at its Oct. 15 regular meeting to approve the awarding of a community development block grant contract to C&C Lovejoy LLC for sidewalk and drainage improvements on Fairview Drive and Simpson Street at a total cost of $138,520.

According to city staff documents, $100,000 of that amount will be paid for from Henry County CDBG funds and the balance will be covered by the city’s special-purpose local option sales tax revenue. The same company was also approved to install sidewalks including ADA ramps along the parking lot area and the entrance to Avalon Park. The vote came as part of the the council’s consent agenda and there was no discussion of either project at the meeting.

The vote to approve was unanimous.
