Discipline violations at Fayette County’s public schools dropped over the past year. Statistics presented to the Board of Education on Monday show 126 fewer reported incidents at the elementary schools, 333 fewer at the middle schools and 201 fewer at the high schools.

The greatest decreases were at Sandy Creek High and Bennett’s Mill and J. C. Booth middle schools.

Steve Greene, coordinator of student athletics, safety and discipline, said incidents of physical aggression occur most often at the elementary level, while the most high school violations are related to tardiness. Greene said new guidelines being phased in are meant to keep disciplinary actions more consistent among the schools.
