Fayette County’s proposed school budget for 2015-16 includes hiring 118 more teachers, assistant principals, paraprofessionals and other staff, plus a 2 percent raise for employees.

The $183.9 million budget is up $13 million from last year and includes an $18 million reserve.

Increased property tax revenue will allow the school system to restore more of the cuts made during the recession, which relate to class sizes and personnel workloads.

The draft budget will be posted at www.fcboe.org. The Board of Education will hold a final vote on June 29.
