Subject to final approval of costs, the Sandy Springs City Council has selected Lanier Parking to provide parking management services for the City Springs downtown redevelopment.

Lanier was one of three parking managers to respond to a request for qualifications issued by the city last August. It will be responsible for a new parking deck, on-street parking and a south parking lot.

An evaluation committee’s report to the city said it narrowed the field to two companies – Lanier and Ace Parking – and looked at the experience of their personnel, their work with similar governments and organizations, innovative products and services, proposed parking plans, customer service and financial and business stability.

Assuming 200 events a year, Lanier submitted a five-year estimate of personnel costs of $3.1 million, beating out Ace’s $3.7 million estimate, staff said. The contract will return to the Council for final approval when firmer information on parking demand and staffing costs are available.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
