Both new development and improvement of a significant intersection are on the way for Sandy Springs.

The Sandy Springs City Council has approved bond-money agreements with the Sandy Springs Development Authority and companies involved with the JLB Gateway mixed-use development. It means that about $4.7 million in bond money will be disbursed for infrastructure improvements in the area of the project, on the west side of Roswell Road north of Windsor Parkway, and for re-alignment of the Roswell/Windsor intersection.

The council in July approved both rezoning for the project and the intersection improvements. Under the deal, the three companies behind the project will effectively pay back the city for the road improvements.

The Sandy Springs Redevelopment Authority approved an up-to $169 million revenue bond to fund the overall project in August. The mixed-used development will replace two older apartment complexes with apartment homes, office space, restaurants and retail.
