Downtown development and transit matters were front and center in Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul’s State of the City address.

Paul told some 240 business and community leaders planning is progressing on the City Center project along Roswell Road, aimed at creating a vision for the area that will result in more green-lighting of development plans. The mayor also said that the city is focusing on development of the Powers Ferry Road corridor at its north end, a key area because of proximity to the under-construction Braves stadium.

Paul also stressed the need for a sustainable growth plan for the Perimeter Center Business Districts. He said that without such a plan in place dealing with transportation issues, the business-heavy area will drown in vehicular traffic.
