The Sandy Springs Fire Rescue Department plans to launch a new program that will emphasize special tactical skills for emergency medical situations.

The program is titled Specialized Tactics for Operational and Rescue Medicine (STORM). Eighteen fire rescue technicians from Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Johns Creek were chosen to participate in the program in collaboration with the North Metro SWAT (NMSWAT) Team.

STORM is the medical component to NMSWAT and will be dispatched in tandem with NMSWAT for emergency situations.
