Sandy Springs has announced a 60-day moratorium on accepting land use and development permit applications for new hotels.

The pause was approved by the Sandy Springs City Council on March 20 after staff discovered inconsistencies in the city’s zoning code, officials said. The two months allow time for staff to prepare proposed changes and make recommendations to the council.

The city has not received any application requests at this time, according to Assistant City Manager Jim Tolbert.

“In reviewing the code, staff realized that there remain questions related to hotels, including how they are defined within the Code which need to be corrected to align with the city’s development code and zoning policies,” Tolbert said.
