The Roswell City Council has called a special meeting Tuesday morning to consider an amendment to the retirement plan for new municipal employees.

The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Roswell City Hall at 38 Hill Street.

Under the amendment, employees hired on or after March 1 would be prohibited from participating in the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System retirement plan. The amendment would also apply for elected officials and municipal judges sworn into office on or after the same date.

The amendment also notes that more retirement plan changes will be adopted "in the near future" for the same group of employees, officials and judges.
