The Roswell City Council has voted to let the Ashley Manor Homeowners Association convert its private water system to a public system, at a cost of $2,000 for each of its 35 homes.

Ashley Manors requested the change in January 2016, according to a staff report to the council. A cursory field assessment was conducted, and the findings were reported to the association. The association retained a registered engineer who determined the improvements required to meet city standards.

Roswell will install meter boxes and water meters in accordance with city specifications, and create a Direct Metered Area to more efficiently determine flows and leaks in the subdivision, staff said.

Each residence will be required to purchase a meter from Roswell, at a cost of $2,000 apiece, while the homeowners association will reimburse the city about $7,000 for the removal of a master meter and tying a six-inch ductile iron water line to an eight-inch ductile iron water line, staff said.
