The Roswell City Council has approved placing two memorial markers on the grounds of City Hall, near the Faces of War Memorial, to honor members of the armed forces and their families.

The project is a partnership of the city, Roswell Garden Club, Memorial Day Committee and Rotary Club of Roswell, according to a staff agenda report to the council. A Blue Star Marker will honor those who served, and a Gold Star Families Marker will honor families who lost loved ones in the service.

Council members decided the markers will be in line with the landscaping of the Faces of War Memorial, according to council meeting minutes. Faces of War, a bronze sculpture erected in 1998 by artist Don Haugen, is a memorial to the Vietnam War.
