Roswell may rename some city streets because of public safety concerns and wants to hear from citizens at three public meetings.

“In times of emergency, streets that have similar names are confusing to callers, emergency 911 operators and public safety responders,” said Roswell Police Chief Ed Williams. “I am asking the citizens of Roswell to work with us to solve this problem before a mistake leads to a tragic event.”

The city will hold meetings Tuesday at Hembree Park, Thursday at East Roswell Park and April 29 at Roswell City Hall. All meetings will start at 6:30 p.m.

Representatives from the police, fire, community development and transportation departments will answer questions.

For information and a complete list of potential streets, visit www.roswellgov.com/streetnames or contact Officer Lisa Holland of the Roswell Police Department at 770-640-4155 or streetname@roswellgov.com.
