Roswell city officials announced the acquisition of the final parcel of the Seven Branches property, an undeveloped tract along Holcomb Bridge Road said to contain the city’s last stand of old-growth trees.

The City Council approved paying $9,000 plus outstanding taxes and closing costs to M.S. Kaufman, trustee for the HBR Trust. The acquisition will expand Seven Branches by more than two acres, to a total of 53 acres. Some of the land previously was donated to the city as a charitable contribution.

The city set a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the land acquisition for 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14. Parking for the event will be at the nearby East Roswell Park entrance off Eves Road. A shuttle will be provided to the ribbon-cutting site. Information: https://bit.ly/2MPvCad

“This project is important because at the heart of every Roswell citizen is the desire for preservation of green space and trees,” said Roswell Mayor Lori Henry. “This significant acquisition preserves the natural beauty of Seven Branches for future generations.”
