Charges could be filed as early as next week in a rollover crash in which eight people were ejected and two children were seriously injured on Saturday in Walton County.

Authorities said, as is standard, they drew blood to see if the driver had been drinking. But they won't know for sure until results come back from the State Crime Lab, said Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.

"Any charges to be filed will be filed one day next week," he said.

According to the State Patrol, eight people were ejected and two children were seriously injured when the SUV carrying 10 people overturned several times after the driver apparently lost control as the 2001 Dodge Durango traveled southbound on Preston Road.

The driver, identified as Jeremy Gillstrap, 26, drove onto the shoulder and then over-corrected, sending the SUV across the road and causing it to overturn several times.

Gillstrap was not seriously injured. Two children, who were in booster seats, also were not seriously injured. Seven people, ages 2 to 19, were taken to hospitals for treatment, Wright said.

Updates on their conditions were not immediately available.

Everyone in the SUV was from the Monroe area, about 45 miles east of Atlanta.
