Restaurant inspection: Sabri Kabab House fails second inspection

Raw meats and dairy items in a walk-in cooler at Sabri Kabab House in Norcross were at unsafe temperatures during an inspection, leading to the restaurant’s second failing health score within a week.

Raw chicken, raw beef, milk, yogurt and ricotta cheese were all discarded.

A milk and cream dessert mixture was also discarded because it had been cooling in a large pot since the night before but was still too hot. Prepared rice in the walk-in cooler was still too warm. The covered container was vented to allow for rapid cooling.

Sabri Kabab House, 6075 Singleton Road, scored 53/U on the follow-up inspection. The restaurant scored 52/U on its routine inspection a week earlier.

Among other code violations, some food items were stored incorrectly and subject to contamination.

A pan of dough and a bag of onions were on the floor. Peeled onions were in a container that was sitting on a cutting board on top of a trashcan.

Raw chicken was stored above cut onions, raw lamb and raw beef.

There was no time documentation for naan dough that had been taken off of temperature control.

Chemicals and medicines were stored among food and single use items.

Some of the coolers and the ice cream machine were not working properly, and the interior of coolers needed cleaning.

The Gwinnett County inspector also found the restaurant’s current health score sheet lying face down on a counter. It is supposed to be prominently displayed for customers.

Sabri Kabab House will be re-inspected
