BB’s Bagels in south Forsyth County failed another health inspection recently.

The popular bagel stop, which had failed a previous routine inspection and scored 70/C on its last two, was again flagged for not keeping bagels protected from contamination.

The inspector said the freshly baked breads were cooling on racks that were too close to the hand sink. The racks were moved to another location. Health officials had previously reprimanded the restaurant for not covering the bagels.

BB’s also had repeat violations of using soiled equipment and containers, and employee personal belongings being stored around food in the kitchen.

BB’s Bagels, 770 McFarland Road, Alpharetta, scored 52/U on the routine inspection.

Points were taken off when an employee picked up trash then continued to prep food without removing gloves and washing hands.

Another employee was prepping food while wearing just one glove.

Employee drinks and clothes were stored on prep tables where vegetables were being sliced. Cigarettes were stored above food at the stove, the inspector said.

In other code violations, a container of pasteurized eggs was being thawed in stagnant water. The eggs were discarded.

The facility also needed cleaning and some repairs, the inspector said. Equipment and containers were soiled with accumulation of food.

A drain from the bagel machine was running onto the floor and needed repairing. The inspector said immediate repairs are needed for the floors throughout the facility because they are not smooth and cannot be cleaned easily.

Also, the rear door needed repairs because it would not seal properly, the inspector said.

BB’s Bagels will be re-inspected. [Editor's Note: BB's Bagels passed the follow-up inspection with 72/C.]
