The first public sculpture installed as part of Artspot, a Johns Creek City Council-approved art initiative, has been unveiled.The sculpture called “He stopped and turned to see and listen” was installed near the pond in Newtown Park earlier this month.

The council voted 4-0 Oct. 26 to place a half-dozen sculptures in Shakerag Park, Newtown Park and along a trail stretching along Medlock Bridge Road. The artwork will be displayed for 18 months, then replaced as part of an annual rotation of sculptures.

The city’s providing locations for the art itself, while non-profit Johns Creek Beautification is arranging for the artwork.
