The Powder Springs City Council will hold three public hearings on proposed property tax increases this month.

The owner of a house with a fair market value of $125,000 would pay an estimated $35.23 more.

For a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $175,000, the annual increase would be around $51.38.

Hearings will be 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 15 at the Powder Springs City Hall, second floor conference room, 4484 Marietta St. and 7 p.m. July 20 in the City Council Chambers, Powder Springs Community Development building, 4488 Pineview Drive.

Property taxes would increase by 9.45 percent but with the same millage rate of the last several years at 8.5 mills, an increase of .734 mills over the rollback rate of 7.766 mills.
