Powder Springs will increase its downtown parking.

Almost $173,396 was approved 5-0 on April 20 by the Powder Springs City Council as a change order to the city’s original agreement with East Coast Grading, Inc.

The money will be used to mill, resurface and stripe Hotel Avenue to provide additional downtown parking.

This work also will relocate sewer and stormwater lines from private property on Hotel Avenue and Lewis Road to place these utilities within the public right of way or public property on Hotel Avenue, Lewis Road and Marietta Street.

As the previous low bidder, East Coast Grading has resurfaced and improved Jackson Way to provide more downtown parking and expand the city parking lot next to Hotel Avenue under the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program.
