Pink slime reported at Atlanta sushi restaurant

An Atlanta sushi joint failed a routine health inspection for having pink slime in its ice machine and improperly storing foods, a report says.

Zen on Ten Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar – located at 1000 Northside Drive Suite 600 – received a 61/U on its routine health inspection Wednesday. The restaurant scored a 91/A on its previous inspection in March.

Following Wednesday's inspection, officials noted a pink slime buildup inside the ice machine and unclean food containers. There was also food stored in a cooler with standing water at the bottom. The inspector recommended repairing the cooler.

Several foods were improperly stored in the restaurant, among other violations. Foods were uncovered or in unlabeled containers, and cooked rice was not properly warmed.

Management at Zen on Ten was not immediately available for comment.

A follow-up inspection is scheduled for Aug. 12.
