Several special event permits were approved by the Locust Grove City Council at its June 3 regular meeting.

One request was for a BBQ competition and bike/car show fundraiser scheduled for Aug. 23-24, hosted by a local church at a downtown restaurant between Hwy. 42 and Cleveland Street. Permits were approved for a fireworks sale fundraiser June 23-July 6 and Dec. 27-31 in the Walmart parking lot, as well as a July 4 community event with fireworks at Warren Holder Park. The applicant also requested an alcoholic beverage caterer’s license to sell beer and wine at the event. It is being billed as a community event with fireworks and kid-friendly activities, according to a city staff report.

Also approved was a June 8 fundraiser at the Locust Grove Masonic Lodge.
