The Peachtree Corners City Council voted June 16 to adopt a construction site waste management ordinance. The ordinance outlines how construction materials must be stored and disposed of to prevent runoff into streams and storm drains and to prevent spills and leaks of hazardous materials.
In the event building materials like soil or sand build up in the roadway, construction crews are required to shovel the material by hand or with a road sweeper. The ordinance prohibits washing sediment down storm drains, creeks or streams.
Violations to the new ordinance will be handled according to the City of Peachtree Corners’ ordinances related to stormwater management, erosion control and illicit discharge or illegal connections.
