Peachtree City plans to crack down on residents who cut down trees in violation of city rules. Planning and Development Director Mike Warrix told the City Council last Thursday that he will soon propose additional regulations and penalties for residents and contractors, and stricter enforcement of the current ordinance.
Warrix said he knows of at least a half dozen incidents of illegal tree removal in the last nine months. Changes could include increasing the size of replacement trees, fees for commercial permits, and more outreach to remind residents and tree-cutting companies about the rules and fines for improper removal. Warrix said, “I’ve seen the concerns firsthand, and we’re addressing the [public] comments we’ve received.”
