Following a March 7 City Council discussion of residential trash pickup service, Peachtree City has issued a request for bids to replace three current operators with a single provider. The change was prompted by an analysis of how much road damage is due to multiple trash trucks routes, which increases city costs for repairs and repaving. The new request for proposals includes a scope of service comprising curbside solid waste and recycling pickup for 9,500-10,500 single-family homes. Residents would be provided with one or more 95-gallon carts for weekly pickup, and a separate cart for recycling. Collection of bulk items and yard waste would be available with the option of extra charges. Contractor bids will be accepted until April 9, after which the city will evaluate the proposals and choose a provider. Details are at www.peachtree-city.org under the Business tab.
