The City Council of Peachtree City voted 5-0 on Feb. 5 to raise two types of Municipal Court fees. The administrative fee for city ordinance violation citations will go from $10 to $15, adding $35,000-$45,000 annually to offset daily operations costs. The council also unanimously approved a new ordinance that will charge $75 per citation to individuals who fail to appear in court for traffic violations, up from $55 previously charged by the state. The state government recently asked each municipality to establish its own fine schedule; the revenue goes to the city’s general fund.
