Janet Moon, Peachtree City’s police chief, was sworn in as the new second vice president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police on July 23.

Moon is the first woman to serve on the association’s nine-member executive board. Among the GACP’s functions is the training and professional development of chiefs of police statewide, as well as promoting partnerships between law enforcement agencies and other community service groups.

Moon became Peachtree City’s police chief in 2015 after previously serving in the Army and in police departments in Rome and Suwanee. She earned three educational degrees in criminal justice, organizational management and public administration, and is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives.
