Due to the vocal controversy surrounding a proposed waterpark development in Peachtree City, Mayor Vanessa Fleisch and the city council will expand the public hearing at their April 16 meeting.

Supporters and opponents of the rezoning measure will be given one hour per side to state their opinions. Speakers must sign up in the council chambers at City Hall before the 7 p.m. meeting begins.

“This will let both sides of the issue designate spokespeople to ensure that all the facts are covered in the allotted time,” Fleisch said Friday.

The council will render a decision after the public hearing.
