After retreats and workshops dating back to May, the City Council of Peachtree City voted 5-0 on Aug. 3 to approve a $34.46 million budget for FY2018.

The General Fund includes $28.4 million of taxes and fee revenue. Department budgets account for $31.1 million in expenses, the largest of which being police and fire services. Financial Services Director Paul Salvatore said an increase in the tax digest growth will result in a millage rollback to completely offset higher property tax assessments.

The new millage rate will be set at the Aug. 17 meeting, and is expected to drop .56 mills from 7.065 to 6.505.
