Three public hearings on keeping the same millage rate will be held by the Paulding County Board of Commissioners on July 26 and Aug. 14.
The hearings will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. July 26 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 14 in the Paulding County Board of Commissioners meeting room, second floor, Administration Building, Watson Government Complex, 240 Constitution Blvd., Dallas.
Then the budget is scheduled to be adopted at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at the same location.
Paulding millage rates have been 6.5 in 2018 and 2017, 6.188 in 2016, 6.528 in 2015, 7.267 in 2014 and 8.22 in 2013.
Even though the millage rate is proposed to stay the same, property taxes are estimated to increase by 6.93 percent.
Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 6.079 mills.
The proposed annual tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is around $25.26 and, for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $125,000, about $21.05.
Copies of the budget are available for public inspection in the Finance Department, 240 Constitution Blvd., Dallas; on the county’s website at paulding.gov and at any Paulding County Public Library Branch.
