Fulton County will soon hold a workshop to teach parents about child passenger safety and replace bad car seats with good ones.
Parents and caregivers will go through a 1½ hour class to learn how to determine proper car seat size and how to install them correctly. They must then install them in their own vehicles.
Officials will inspect each person’s car seats to see if they are damaged, expired or not right for the child using it. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.
Once the course is completed, any out-of-date car seats will be replaced with new, convertible ones that adjust to different positions as a child ages. The county will dispose of the incorrect car seats.
If someone receives a new car seat, officials will ask them to fill out the recall information packet and will then mail it off for them.
The Child Passenger Safety Seat Workshop will be held Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ronald Bridges Park, 5285 Lakeside Drive, Union City. No prior sign up is necessary.
