A public open house will update Cherokee County residents on plans to improve Bells Ferry Road near Woodstock with a new bridge and two more travel lanes.
The open house is set for 5 to 7 p.m., April 26, in the cafeteria of Boston Elementary School, 105 Othello Drive, Woodstock. The Georgia Department of Transportation and Cherokee County SPLOST Roadway Capital Program will host the event.
Plans call for replacing the Bells Ferry bridge over the Little River at Lake Allatoona, and reconstructing and widening the road from two lanes to four with a raised median between South Fork Way and Victoria Road. The widening may require detours of up to one month between Victoria and North Victoria roads and on Surrey Drive at the intersection with Bells Ferry, officials said.
The public will have a chance to view project plans and possible detours, ask questions and comment. There will be no formal presentation, and visitors can drop in any time during the open house. A court reporter will be available to take comments.
Written statements will be accepted through May 10 to: Eric Duff, State Environmental Administrator, Georgia Department of Transportation, 600 West Peachtree St. NW–16th Floor, Atlanta GA 30308.
