City Springs, the much-discussed mixed-use development set to open this year in Sandy Springs, has booked its inaugural event.
On the City Green, the mixed-use development will host “Food that Rocks,” a festival previously held at Hammond Park.
The festival is set for June 9 from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets range from $55 to $65 and attendees must be 21 or older.

“Food that Rocks is a celebration of Sandy Springs, bringing together our restauranteurs with those who love great food, fun and community, which makes this event a perfect fit as we begin to unveil the many opportunities for the community to gather at City Springs,” Sandy Springs mayor Rusty Paul said in a statement.
Food that Rocks was created by Dale DeSena, a Sandy Springs resident, business owner, and the founder of “Taste of Atlanta.” Sponsored by Sandy Springs, the all-inclusive food, beverages and music event launched in 2016 brings together more than 20 chefs and mixologists serving favorite menu items.
“Sandy Springs is my home, so there is a special connection for me,” DeSena said in a statement. “Moving the event to City Springs gives us an opportunity to grow the event and (have it) remain one of the city’s signature happenings.”
Participating restaurants include Hammocks Trading Company, il Giallo, Kaiser’s Chophouse and Under the Cork Tree. More will be announced as the event nears, but more than 25 restaurants participated last year.
City Springs spans across 14 acres and will feature a performing arts center, a conference center, city hall, residential units, retail space and a park. The formal grand opening is set for August.
