The Norcross City Council approved $73,750 recently to hire a sustainability consultant, someone to advise the city on how to manage facilities and services for the best environmental impact.
Once hired, the consultant will help assess the city’s projects and identify potential opportunities to reduce the city’s environmental impact, research and implement cost-saving strategies and provide best practices used in various other counties in their efforts to go green. This might include identifying alternate forms of energy, like solar panels, or starting an initiative to reduce the city’s carbon footprint.
The consultant will also share funding and grant opportunities and facilitate training for city volunteers and staff for future projects.
