The Norcross City Council unanimously passed a resolution recently in support of the establishment of a Gwinnett County Continuum of Care for the homeless. The resolution acknowledges reducing homelessness requires a significant amount of coordination and cooperation between federal, state, and local governments, as well as private sector service providers and community organizations.

Organizations already established with a mission to provide services to the homeless would, in theory, benefit from a coordinated effort to obtain funding and provide services. A Continuum of Care would including nonprofit homeless assistance providers, victim service providers, faith-based organizations, governments, business, advocates public housing agencies, school districts, social service providers, mental health agencies, hospitals, universities, and affordable housing providers that are already organized to carry out the duties associated with creation and implementation of the Continuum of Care.
