The Norcross City Council voted Dec. 7 to transfer city code enforcement from the Community Development Department to the Police Department. Under the newly updated ordinance, Norcross Police will have the ability to hire one or more code enforcement officers. Duties of code enforcement officers include enforcing city ordinances, issuing warnings and citations.

The Community Development Department will continue to be responsible for the enforcement and implementation of the Planning and Development Code, oversee community development projects, capital improvement undertakings, and other related matters.
