The Norcross City Council recently approved a plan to proceed with design for a standard 5-foot wide sidewalk on the northwest side of South Peachtree Street. The city council will also consider an alternate design option for decorative streetscape with brick pavers and/or granite plant boxes between Carlyle Street and Holcomb Bridge Road.

The sidewalk would provide easier pedestrian access to and from parking in this area adjacent to the railroad tracks. The entire project plan includes installation of a fence between the railroad and the parking area. Phase two pf the project would expand gravel parking spaces to allow for construction of 24 spaces facing the tracks for a total of 45 spaces. Phase three would create the sidewalk, eliminating 21 parking spaces, but adding 14 new ones for a final total of 38 parking spaces.
