Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in Locust Grove won more than $2,500 in prizes from Innovacyn, the makers of Vetericyn animal wound and skin care products, in the company’s fourth annual “Vetericyn Loves Animals” online charity giveaway.

The prize includes a year’s supply of Vetericyn products. After 311 groups were nominated and divided into three categories, eight winners were selected. Noah’s Ark was placed in the category of U.S.-based organizations that serve large animals. Other categories included those who serve small animals and also international organizations.

About 170,000 votes were tallied during a three-week period. Noah’s Ark received about 5,000 votes, the most in its category by a wide margin. Noah’s Ark is an educational sanctuary “dedicated to bringing children and exotic and farm animals together with the purpose of providing unconditional love, unconditional service and a future full of hope,” according to a statement on its web site.

The organization houses on its 250 acres about 1,500 animals representing more than 100 species.
