Q: A recent article on the late broadcaster Ludlow Porch mentioned the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame. How is this facility funded, and what is the annual attendance?
-- Steve Kilbride, Atlanta
A: The Georgia Radio Hall of Fame does not have a facility, but it is working toward having a permanent physical location for its growing collection of memorabilia and artifacts, president and co-founder John Long told Q&A on the News. The organization rents warehouse space for the items, and he said a logical choice for a location would be the Atlanta area, since it is where Georgia radio began and would draw the largest number of visitors. Its "virtual museum" is at www.grhof.com. The nonprofit organization has hundreds of members and is operated by volunteers, with no compensation for board members or officers, he said. Anyone can join, and $25 lifetime membership fees go toward annual operating expenses, including postage, storage, supplies and website hosting. The organization's fifth annual induction ceremony is set for Oct. 15; Porch was a career achievement inductee at the hall's inaugural event in 2007.
